Don't throw out your old oranges - cut them in half and rub them on your elbows, knees or heels as a great light exfoliator.
The combination of sun, wind and pollution can do some real damage to the sensitive skin on our lips, and no matter how much lip balm you use it will not get rid of the dead skin caused by cracked lips, but a little sugar lip scrub will.
You need:
4 teaspoons fine sugar, like caster sugar (de sucre fin) – for exfoliation
3 teaspoons bio or organic honey (miel) – for healing properties
1 teaspoon bio or organic coconut oil (l'huile de noix de coco) – with antioxidants and moisturiser
3-4 drops essential oil (optional)
Small air-tight containers (those little jam jars you get at hotels are perfect) usually also sold at Coop and Migros
To make:
Using a small mixing bowl place sugar, honey and coconut oil in the bowl and mix thoroughly
When all ingredients are combined use a teaspoon to scoop the scrub into your small containers
I love the natural flavor of this scrub without essential oils but for variety I might add in a few drops of peppermint, vanilla or sweet orange essential oil
Instead of licking the spoon you can start scrubbing!
This scrub will last a good 4-5 months but keep any water out of it.
You will know it’s time to throw it out when the sugar in the scrub has been absorbed into the oil and honey
